GAS TANKS

I hope you never have to replace a gas tank in an older jeep. Not only are they expensive they can be hard to find when looking in junk yards and parts stores. The first thing you must do is look at the tank you have and see how long the fill tube is. Some are short and some are long. It will make a difference. In the past you couldn't get a tank any larger than a twelve gallon but now they offer a twenty gallon if you buy new.

But if you have a 1975 thru 1980 the same tank should fit as long as the fill tube is on the right rear. Upon getting your hands on a tank always rubber coat the tank before you install it. This will save you ever having to replace it due to rust.
